The Changi Boys fell narrowly to Niger Tornadoes 1 – 0 Wednesday in one of the NPFL match day 18 fixtures decided at the Bako Kontagora Stadium in Minna.

Substitute Saib Dasso 79 minutes curling free kick that Abdullahi Boje could not provide an answer to was the difference in that action parked encounter.

Katsina United started the game on a bright note as they dominated possession in the early minutes of the proceedings knocking the ball around from left to right.

The first clear cut chance fell on Destiny Ashadi who ran into space in the box of the opposition to connect a low dangerous pass in from Gwammy who had dribbled past his marker on the right flank, but Destiny miscued the ball and it was an easy catch for Tornadoes goalkeeper Aliko Mustapha just ten minutes into the proceedings

Tornadoes responded immediately and had their opportunity to go ahead on 15 minutes when Abdullahi Boje was forced a brilliant save to deny Eric Frimpong from giving Tornadoes the lead after he found space in the middle and unleashed a volley.

Martins Usule could have given the visitors the lead on 32 minutes after connecting brilliantly to a long ball forward, beat the Tornadoes defender Gwaza but could not keep his volley low and the hosts restarted the game with a goal kick

‘The Changi Boys’ continued their dominance and and created another scoring opportunity two minutes later when Tasiu Lawal was set free by Usman Barau but his effort is saved by Aliko Mustapha to keep Tornadoes in the game.

On 43 minutes, Destiny Ashadi burst forward on the right flank and whipped in a brilliant low cross but it was cleared by Reuben Ogbonnaya before Tasiu arrived.

The CR looked at his watch and sounded his whistle for half time break.

The hosts started the second half brightly as they created two clear cut chances to force Katsina United goalkeeper to two early saves.

Both coaches introduced fresh legs to fortify their teams as they continued to search for the opener in what looked like a cagey game.

What could have been the opener for the visitors was somehow missed by Martins Usule on 70th minutes after Tasiu Lawal had done brilliantly on the right flank and whipped in a dangerous strike which found Martins in the box but he miscued the ball and it was an easy catch for Aliko Mustapha

Musa Ibrahim would then force Katsina United goalie Abdullahi Boje to another clever save from a close range effort

Substitute Saib Dasso eventually broke the deadlock for Niger Tornadoes on 79 minutes off a sumptuous curling free kick to give the Ikon Allah Boys a long awaited lead

Katsina United poked and knocked in search of the equalizer but could not find the break through as the game ended 1 – 0 in favor of Niger Tornadoes.

‘The Changi Boys’ will next travel to Benin to trade tackles with Bendel Insurance in one of the NPFL match day 19.
