A brace by outstanding Katsina United winger Tasiu Lawal and a Martins Usule early strike condemned Niger Tornadoes to a second straight defeat on the road and six games without a win

‘The Changi Boys’ compounded coach Benard Ogbe’s woes with a 3 -1 home win in a NPFL Week 6 match decided at the Muhammad Dikko Stadium in Katsina.

Katsina United have now moved to fifth on the league table after this emphatic victory with six points from three games, while Tornadoes are deep at the bottom of the standings with just three points from six games.

Confident coach Biffo, who won his first match of the season, told www.fckatsinaunited.com that his team must maintain this form.

“I am happy and satisfied with the game and I am very impressed with the performance of my players. Kudos to them.”

Biffo said his presence on the bench motivated his side to cruise to a comfortable win over Tornadoes

“Yes, everybody is glad to see me on the bench for the first time this season. I will say the boys were also happy too and I am sure my presence on the bench really motivated my players,” he offered.

It was a very entertaining game that produced four brilliant goals and several talking points.

It was Katsina United who drew the first blood through Martins Usule who powered home a brilliant strike after connecting well with a pin point pass from Joshua Agboola on 13th minutes.

Katsina United could have doubled the lead five minutes after the first goal, but Lukman Muhammad’s long-range drive was parried to safety by goalkeeper Aliko.

Niger Tornadoes almost got the equaliser on 23rd minutes from a well worked ball between Udeh and Azado, but Katsina United goalkeeper Kassaly Daouda was on hand to save.

Tornadoes posed another threat on 41 minutes but Azado’s strike from distance narrowly missed the target.

Despite enjoying the better possession of the opening 45 minutes, Katsina United could not get a security goal as Niger Tornadoes  went to the break only a goal down.

Tasiu Lawal got the security goal for Katsina United with a brilliant right-footed volley after connecting well with a lofty pass from Lukman Muhammed just two minutes into the second half to give the hosts a comfortable lead.

Both teams introduced fresh legs to fortify their team and it was Katsina United who benefited once again from the changes as Tasiu Lawal got his brace of the evening on 67th minutes to put the visitors completely on the back foot.

Niger Tornadoes had to wait until the dying minutes to get a consolation goal via a penalty kick after Katsina United conceded a cynical foul on Ahmadu before Eric Frimpong stepped forward to calmly dispatch the spot kick.
