Katsina United will be looking forward to make up for their 2 – 0 loss to Nasarawa United in mid-week with another home win against visiting El Kanemi Warriors today.
‘The Chanji Boys’ will hope to extend their home record of going 12 games without defeat when they host El Kanemi Warriors at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium in Katsina.
The ‘Borno Army’ ended their 100 percent home record on Wednesday when they were forced to a 1-1 draw by champions Enugu Rangers.
El Kanemi Warriors will come into this game with the hope of picking point in Katsina so as to keep alive the hopes of playing on the continent next year.
The reverse fixture was won by the Maiduguri outfit, who won with a late goal in January.
Katsina United leading scorer Chinedu Uduchukwu is a major doubt after he suffered an ankle injury in the early minutes of their last match against Nasarawa United in Lafia.
“Chinedu sustained an ankle injury in the early minutes of our last match against Nasarawa United. The team doctors are treating him and I’m waiting to get report from them if he’s going to be fit for the match, hopefully he should be available,” said coach Baldwin Bazuaye.
The first-ever meeting between these two teams was in the first round of the ongoing NPFL. El Kanemi won 1-0 at the El Kanemi Sports Complex Stadium in Maiduguri in January.
