Nasarawa United hosts Katsina United in what will be a do-or-die encounter today at the Lafia Township Stadium in Lafia.
Katsina United will be looking forward to end their poor run of form away from home when they face Nasarawa United in one of the NPFL Week 23 fixtures.
The last time ‘The Chanji Boys’ picked a point on the road this season was in January when they played a goalless draw with Lobi Stars in Makurdi.
‘The Solid Miners’ picked a vital point on the road in their last match against Rangers on Sunday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu. This away point will serve as a motivating factor when they face the ‘Chanji Boys’.
Itwould be recalled that the reverse of this match was won by Katsina United 1-0 in January.
Nasarawa United will approach this game with all seriousness and determination as they will be looking forward to get their revenge.
Katsina United, who returned to winning ways against Abia Warriors over the weekend, will depend largely on their mercurial midfielder Ashadi Destiny to carve out holes in the defence of the hosts with his defence splitting passes.
Both teams clashed for the first time in a competitive match in the first round of the on-going NPFL where Katsina United won 1 – 0 at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium in Katsina.
‘The Solid Miners’ home record has been good having won eight and drawn three at home.
While Katsina United away record is nothing to write home about as they have been able to pick just two draws and lost nine of their last 11 away matches. They will therefore be more than happy to pick a point in Lafia.
“Yes, it’s going to be a tough game against Nasarawa United who have rediscovered their form in the league. It’s a game of football, anything is possible. We’ll go there and give it our all and we’ll be more than happy if we can pick point at Lafia,” said Coach Baldwin Bazuaye.

Nasarawa United are ninth on the NPFL table with 31 points picked from 21 games. A win for them in this game will raise their hopes of picking continental ticket and a draw or loss will see them around the middle of the table.
On the other hand, Katsina United shot to 13th position on the table after their 1 – 0 victory over visiting Abia Warriors on Sunday.
A win in this crunch tie will see them move back to the middle of the table. However, a draw or loss will move them closer to relegation zone depending on other results.
