Katsina United U15s have qualified for the quarterfinals of the NPFL/LaLiga Promises Tournament after they topped Group B based in Kaduna.
They qualified along with El Kanemi U15s from the Kaduna Centre, Rivers United U15 and FCIfeanyiUbah U15 from the Owerri Centre, Shooting Stars U15 and ABS from Osogbo Centre and Rangers U15 and Niger Tornadoes U15 from Abuja Centre.
All these quarterfinalists from the four centres (Oweri, Osogbo, Abuja and Kaduna) are expected to converge in Lagos for the finals.
The quarterfinals have been scheduled to commence on Tuesday and Katsina United are expected to leave Kaduna for Lagos on Sunday.
On Friday, the junior ‘Chanji Boys’ defeated Wikki Tourists U15s 2-1 to top the Group B of the NPFL/LaLiga Promises Tournament with eight points.
They conceded first when Muhammed Musa of Wikki headed home a brilliant curling corner kick five minutes into the game.
Katsina United U15 responded two minutes later, when Hamisu Aminu scored from the spot kick to level things up at the Ranch Bees Stadium in Kaduna.
Just seven minutes before the end of the first-half, the Chanji Boys Junior took the lead with a powerful header by Hussein Muhammed from Hamisu Aminu’s corner as the first half ended 2 – 1 in favour of Katsina United U15.
The second half was more of a formality as both teams could not find the back of the net and the game ended 2 – 1 in favour of Katsina United.
Katsina United U15s played a total of four games, they won two and drew two.
They are level on points with El-kanemi U15 but their +3 goals advantage secured them the first position in Group B at Kaduna Centre.
