It will be a direct clash of the experience of central defender Ado Ali up against the youthfulness and dare of striker Stephen Odey when Katsina United welcome MFM FC today to the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium in Katsina.
Home team Katsina United will be looking to return to winning ways against free-scoring MFM, who have netted a total of 12 goals with Odey the leading scorer of the league with six of those goals.
‘The Chanji Boys’ were set back 1-0 in the Northwestern derby at Kano Pillars on Sunday and will now be expected to put a stop to coach Fidelis Ilechukwu’s lethal attack of Odey and Sikiru Olatunbosun.
Ado Ali has more than 10 years experience in the Nigerian league after stints in several top clubs including Kano Pillars and Mighty Jets. He is the most experienced defender in Katsina United and his leadership and how he organizes the backline will go a long way to how his team will fare in front of their fans this afternoon.
Ali’s direct opponent Odey is featuring in only his second season in the NPFL.
Last season, the 19-year-old striker fired nine goals in his debut season as MFM barely stayed up in the top flight.
This season, his six goals have included a hat-trick at home against Lobi Stars.
What will prevail this afternoon in Katsina – the undoubted experience and leadership of Ado Ali or the young blood of Odey?
Katsina United are now 10th on the NPFL table with 13 points from 10 games, while MFM occupy fourth place with 16 points from eight games.
